As a school, we have designed assessment criteria for each of our subjects so we can see if our pupils are on track to meet age related expectations (AREs). These include statements from the National Curriculum and our long term planning to ensure consistency and progression throughout the school.
The National Curriculum is split into Core and Foundation subjects. The core subjects are English, Maths and Science. English is split into Reading and Writing as these are tracked seperately in school. The Foundation subjects are all those over and above the core subjects, and at Chandlers Ridge these include Modern Foreign Languages, History, Geography, Music, Art, Design & Technology, Computing, PE and Religious Education.
We report against your child’s progress towards their age related expectations in our school reports. This academic year we have made some changes to ensure that we are clear from the outset what your child’s individual target will be for Reading, Writing and Maths. This Initial Target Report will be issued prior to Parents Evening in October, so parents and carers can make the most of their meeting with their child’s teacher. Below is a summary of the reporting cycle in school and the corresponding Parents Evening; note that parents and carers are encouraged to make contact throughout the year to discuss any concerns or queries regarding their child’s progress in school.
